This Directory is being published late fall 2019, two-thirds of the way through our 2018-2020 Strategic Plan. It has been a busy year and we have been successful with increasing awareness of landscape architecture to all levels of government. Members have met with federal,BY JANE WELSH provincial and municipal politicians across Ontario. Many were unaware of the depth and variety of the work of our profession. The meetings provide an opportunity to convey the important role OALA members play in creating safe, accessible places, protecting natural features and functions and in addressing climate change and climate resilience. All whom we met were duly impressed. I encourage all members to continue to share the messages and to raise awareness about the profession. The fall issue of Ground magazinePower marks the debut of our new editor, Glyn Bowerman. Some of Glyns journalism background includes working at Spacing magazine as a managing editor and reporter, as well as hosting Spacing Radios podcasts, and prior to that he was a transportation columnist at Metro News in Toronto. Glyn and our amazing volunteer Editorial Board chaired by Eric Klaver have put together an excellent issue which speaks to the power of our profession.OALA is looking forward to launching a few new membership categories commencing January 1, 2020.
