After an action-packed day, celebration was in the evening air at the Montral Science Centre, where guests gathered to honour the accomplishments of the 2023 Guiding the Journey Indigenous Educator Awards. This year, the Gathering had an enhanced focus on the recipients and their achievements, celebrating them in a way that truly paid tribute to their important work. Featuring delicious food and an unparalleled view of the Montral skyline at sunset, the event was a fitting coda to a memorable first day.DYNAMIC PRESENTATIONSThe next day marked the beginning of the main conference program-ming, with MC Greg Hill, the award-winning Mohawk journalist, serving as guide. Faithkeeper Kanahsohon Kevin Deer warmly welcomed the attendees, speaking about the importance of staying rooted in traditional knowledge and practices to inform your future paths. His inspiring words were followed by thought-provoking insights from three young Indigenous leaders who appeared as part of the popular annual Student Panel, moderated this year by Greg Hill: Indspire Youth Laureate James Lavalle, Guiding the Journey Award recipient Marika Schalla, and influencer Shina Nova.After the panel wrapped up, attendees were keen to begin immersing themselves in the dynamic workshops and action-packed tradeshow.2024indspiration31'
