This pandemic has taught me many things about both my personal and professional life, as well as the resiliency Ive seen in Indigenous women in this time of COVID-19. We perform different roles at different times of our lives. As mothers and wives, weve collectively strengthened our families while identifying the challenges of living in a remote environ-President, ONWA ment yet remaining connected to the world.As a teacher, Ive embraced new technologies, allowing me to stay connected to my larger family of students and faculty. Ive mastered new ways of teaching and have expanded the joy of learning under onwa.ca constantly changing dynamicsdynamics the world has never known.@ONWA7 As President of ONWA, Im learning new ways to empower our connection as an organization, @_ONWA_ keeping the frontline more relevant in a virtual world. We are staying connected with our outstanding board of directors, community members and staff. We are rising to the needs of communities across @onwa_official the province.Most importantly, we are all staying linked to the things that matter. One of the most important lessons this pandemic has taught me is to be thankful. The Creator has blessed us with an opportunity to appreciate the smaller things in life against a chaotic backdrop. We need to take time to remember that.Sharing our stories is what makes She is Wise magazine so special. With each new edition, ONWA delights in shining a spotlight on the incredible women in our Indigenous communitieswomen who are making a significant difference, sometimes against tremendous challenges.
