I would like to extend my regards to our readers and those who have donated their time to ensure this edition is a success. Over the last year, the opioid crisis among First Nations communities has worsened due to the pandemic, and some may say it has been exacerbated throughout our First Nations during lockdown. The need for community-based, culturally appropriate services and care has never been more critical to our communi-ties. In this edition of Advocate, you will find key pieces focusing on the opioid crisis within First Nation communities and the work of our youth, citizens and organizationsall of whom are implementing traditional healing and reconnection to culture at the centre of addictions treatment. As Ontario Regional Chief, my goal is to support First Nations health and resiliency through guidance and advocacy resources to assist First Nations and their communities in finding a pathway towards healing and self-sufficiency. While this year has been difficult, I am proud to see our communities come together, while apart, to ensure we all stay safe and healthy. I hope this edition of Advocate can be a hub of infor-mation and provide insights and information for communities to utilize and amplify their own initiatives.
