b'FROM THE COOS DESKAdvancingFirst NationsPriorities TRACY ANTONEChief Operating Officer, Chiefs of OntarioS hekoliOn behalf of the Chiefs of Ontario secretariat, I am pleased to welcome you to another edition of the official Chiefs of Ontariomagazine, Advocate.Within this edition of Advocate, you will find essential pieces aimed to advance First Nations-led, innovative stories and recent contributions that make our communities a better place. Stories that offer accurate and vivid portraits of First Nations people who are determined to make a difference for the better-ment of the next seven generations, with the overarching theme focused on First Nations health and well-being and how we can address the socioeconomic gaps within our region. The rebuilding of our Nations, along with establishing transparent processes to address the gaps that negatively impact First Nations, cannot be done in isolation. They must be restored by developing a tripartite First Nations-led, community-based process that incorporates Indigenous knowledge and world-view, relationship with the land, values and intergenerational relationships. We hope that this edition will showcase existing innovative community-led achieve-ments and ignite inspiration for our audiences to develop their own solutions. This past year at the Chiefs of Ontario has been especially successful and marked by many important milestones on key growth developments and projects. As we prepare for the upcoming year, the Chiefs of Ontario is dedicated to taking an innovative and coordinated approach to communication and advocacy and how this can produce tangible outcomes for First Nations communities within Ontario. As the Chiefs of Ontario continues to work alongside the various levels of leadership and government, we are committed to respecting the autonomy of our Nations. We will ensure First Nations voices and governance struc-tures within our region are heard and that we are actively creating a space for communities to drive their solutions forward to achieve substantial systemic change. With the assistance of a great team and the support of all of the leadership in Ontario, we will continue to move forward with increased stability that will, over the long term, ensure we can respond and support First Nations as they advance their issues. Thank you to all those who donated their time to ensure this edition was a success. I encourage all our readers to provide insight and feedback so we can continue to evolve as an organization and tailor each publication to be accessible and inclusive for our diverse audience.Yaw^ko12l ISSUE 2 2019/20C hIEfS ofo ntarIoA dvocAte magazInE'
