MRR: My favourite part of paint- ing is being able to travel to all the areas that I can and just painting what I see. I like taking photos and then painting them on canvas. I especially enjoy it when my art speaks to people and reminds them of a place they once went to. Often people ask me to paint a photo of their favourite place. Most of the commissions I do are places that no longer look the way they used to, and that’s my favourite part of being an artist – making their memories last longer on canvas. C: What do you like about using acrylic as a medium? MRR: I like using acrylic as a me- dium because it has greater colour and vibrancy than oils. I like oils too, but acrylics give a brighter light base, and they don’t smell as bad either. Acrylics blend well too, when I’m trying to get the right colour, that’s really useful. I want to make the painting look as real as possible. This medium helps me blend skies easily so that I can capture the clouds in a 3-D like manner, like it’s coming out of the painting. Acrylics also work well on wood and other materials. Molly R. Ratt’s winter landscapes painted on ornaments for the holidays. Molly R. Ratt’s landscape painting of a creek. Molly R.
