How MNPs Individual Learning Plans created impactful results for Gitsegukla NationGitsegukla Nation was looking to build more capacity in their nance department. Their nance clerk, Leona, was passionate about her rolehowever, as the sole employee in the department, she needed more support with her day-to-day responsibilities. MNPs advisors sat down with Gitsegukla Nation to understand their situation before implementing a customized Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to meet their unique needs. Leona already had a considerable amount of nancial experience but needed support to develop policies, processes, and procedures to enhance the efciency of the nance department.Our team worked side-by-side with Leona to develop policies, processes, and procedures aligned with best practices. This helped to clarify roles and responsibilities as well as create a consistent schedule for nancial tasks to support efcient operations. The whole process has improved with the Individual Learning Plan that Ive received, says Leona. I like the structure we have, and it feels like we are going in the right direction.Leona has passed on the knowledge she gained from her ILP to staff in other departments to support the pre-planning of annual events. She also used the skills she learned during the program to support improvements to event processes and accommodate for any changes in budget. Gitsegukla Nation also hired another nance clerk to support Leona with her duties, and Leona has provided mentorship to her new colleague on the processes within the department. Additionally, Leona has been able to invest in her own skills to take over more duties in the nance team. She recently completed the Certied Aboriginal Finance Manager (CAFM) certication from AFOA Canada to increase her knowledge and support the success of Gitsegukla Nationand were looking forward to seeing what she will achieve in the future.
