It is not simply a moral obligation, but a legislative right of all workers, not to mention the obvious financial consequences. Although great strides have been made, unfortunately, incidents continue to happen across Manitoba worksites.From January to May 2021, 26 serious incidents in the construction industry were reported to the Workplace Safety and Health Branch. The Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) has created a monthly Serious Incident Report to provide awareness and initiate preventative actions as appropriate for our clients. The Serious Incident Report is posted to our website and emailed directly to subscribers on the last Tuesday of every month. We can work together to help prevent incidents in Manitoba, and a great step toward doing so is through training and resources so you are better prepared to identify, communicate and control hazards encountered at your jobsite. This summer CSAM has launched an excellent training resource called SiteReadyMBan online interactive construction safety orientation program designed specifically for Manitobas construction industry. This robust training program aims to equip new and returning workersor anyone wanting to update their skillswith the knowledge they need to work safely onconstruction sites. We also continue to create additional virtual toolbox talks to help you facilitate in-house safety education on YOUR jobsite. These videos share practical, straightforward information on topics such as hazards assessments and fall protection. And of course, the CSAM App remains available to you 24/7 for up-to-date workplace safety and health legislation and resources in the palm of your hand. All these digital resources are available remotely from your phone, tablet and/or computer as part of our commitment to innovating safety to best fit YOUR worksite.
