b'FROM OUR CHAIRConstruction CaresAs a construction association, our members are in the business of building communities, but they also make it their business to support the communities they live and work in. Their work goes beyond the many important infrastructure projects in our neighbourhoods; they make a difference by contributing to worthwhile causes, volunteering their time and giving back with their expertise and services. Our members support a wide range of charitable organizations and provide donations to a variety of fundraisers, events and benefits. Theyre a generous but humble bunch. On page 12, we take an opportunity to showcase the incredible value our members bring to the cities and projects in which they are involved. While we were able to feature a few of our WCA members in their benevolent efforts, these stories are just a small number of the many ways the industry is impacting the greater community. In our ongoing discussions with government, we want to provide examples of all the great work construction companies are doing to improve their community and show corporate social responsibility. I encourage you to reach out to WCA with examples of how you and your organization give back to the community. The construction industry has a lot to be proud of!A small way we can all do our part for our country, province and city is to get vaccinated. Vaccines are safe, effective and our best and fastest way back to a more normal business environment. The best way you can protect yourself and your business is to encourage your staff to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments as soon as possible. The province has also announced changes to the Employment Standards Code, allowing employees up to three hours of paid leave to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations. If you want more information on vaccines, you can visit the provinces information page at protectmb.ca.Together we will get through this and return to a safe and successful Manitoba.
