b'FROM OUR PRESIDENTSomething for EveryoneWith schools and universities back in session, the board and staff of the Winnipeg Construction Association are also happy to welcome you back to our Construction Education Centre for the 2022-23 season. Were very proud of this years lineup of courses, including many new additionscheck them out on page 21. Our education program has something for everyone, including our tried and tested supervisory courses (BST and BSL), sessions on estimating, project delivery methods, law, building code and more. All our courses qualify for Gold Seal Certification credits, and were happy to discuss this program with you. Finally, many of our courses also qualify for professional development credits with other professional Manitoba design groups. If you werent able to visit us in the last year, you may have missed our brand-new Waverley Room, a state-of-the-art classroom designed to give our guests their own tables with plenty of room. The feedback on this change has been extremely positive, and we look forward to welcoming you into the space. While welcoming students back to in-person training has been fantastic, we continue to offer virtual training. My preference is the in-person model, where students spend a day or half-day in our facility and get to know one another during classroom exercises, lively (loud) discussions and coffee or lunch breaks. As always, Peggy, our Manager of Learning and Development, surveys participants during and after courses and is quick to respond to areas of concern and suggestions for improvement. We collect all types of metrics here at WCA, including the percentage of members that take advantage of our training opportunities. Last year, 58 per cent of WCA member companies attended one or more education sessions. I want to see that number grow, and we are willing to work with all of you to make that happen. Great employees dont just show upyou must invest in their education on a continuous basis. Thats what WCA is here for. I look forward to seeing you in our classroomthis year!Stay safe,Ronald Hambley8 BUILD MANITOBAwinnipegconstruction.ca'
