b'CSAM NEWSFROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CSAMRaising the bar on safetyThe Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) is evolving into the new year with a lineup of initiatives that will make the implementation of safety easier on Manitoba jobsites and interprovincially. In fall 2022, we introduced improvements to the COR program, including a new harmonized national audit instrument that clearly aligns with the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations (CFCSA) 2021 national COR accreditation standard. This new audit is intended to be launched across most Canadian jurisdictions in 2023 to verify a companys safety and health program meets the national COR accreditation standard.Hard copies of the new audit instrument are available at our CSAM offices and will be available digitally in the new year as we introduce an updated online audit instrument. If you have any questions about the changes to the audit instrumentincluding the newly added section, Procurement and Contractor Managementcontact our offices at 204-775-3171 in Winnipeg or 204-728-3456 in Brandon. As part of this new audit instrument, CSAM and the CFCSA have revised the training requirements for COR/SECOR. Companies pursuing COR/SECOR certification will be required to complete the Hazard Identification and Risk Control course, instead of Train the Trainer. Coinciding with this change in training requirements, the CFCSA is developing a harmonized training standard for Hazard Identification and Risk Control to further ensure consistent delivery of this course and its learning objectives across all jurisdictions. The CFCSA Training Network will be presenting a draft of this standard at the 2023 CFCSA Annual Meeting in Junewhich CSAM is pleased to announce we will be hosting in Winnipeg. We look forward to welcoming our fellow construction safety associations from across the country as we work together to build safer workplaces.Until then, we look forward to seeing you at CSAM: THE Safety Conference, returning to Winnipeg on February 14 and 15.
