b'CSAM NEWSFROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CSAMLeading with Innovation and EfficiencyWhile were only a few months in, 2023 is already shaping up to be a big year for safety in Manitobas construction industry. As we reported at the Winnipeg Construction Association (WCA) Annual General Meeting this February, your Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) completed many objectives from the first phase of our three-year strategic plan. In 2023, we remain committed to serving you with our continued focus on leadership, innovation and efficiency.After a two-year hiatus, CSAM: THE Safety Conference returned to Winnipeg on February 14 and 15. It was our 30th time hosting this conference, and it continues to fulfill its reputation as the largest construction safety conference in North America, as well as the premier safety conference in Canada. This year, a total of 2,594 training certificates were issued to1,845 participants.We would like to thank all our participants, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and staff for their continued support of CSAM: THE Safety Conference. Safety is a team effort, and we are pleased to see the industrys ongoing recognition of this premier event.This spring we are excited to initiate Construction Safety Week from May 1 to 5 in alignment with North American Occupational Safety and Health Week. We will be bringing back our popular pancake breakfast to launch Construction Safety Week, and we have a series of lunchtime events and training sessions planned throughout the week. Heading into summer, we will be supporting the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) in Winnipeg alongside WCA. Many members of your CSAM team will be volunteering, and I will personally be serving my 20th consecutive year as a member of the SCNC national safety committee. We look forward to seeing new students and apprentices demonstrate their skills. We will also be hosting the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations (CFCSA) for our annual meeting on June 6 and 7. We are pleased to welcome all our inter-provincial/territorial counterparts to Manitoba!While we look forward to all the exciting events in store for the coming months, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving YOU.
