b'FACTS & FIGURESMANITOBA BUILDING PERMITS DECEMBER 2022According to Statistics Canada, building permit numbers in 2022 were down 1.5 per cent compared to 2021. A breakdown of the numbers shows that while non-residential permits increased significantly, residential permits were much lower compared to the previous year. Commercial building permits in 2022 increased by nearly 30 per cent compared to 2021, while institutional permits were down nearly 20 per cent and industrial permits increased by almost 40 per cent. This nets out to an increase of over 18 per cent on the non-residential side.Residential permits in 2022 were down over 11 per cent compared to 2021.
