b'FROM THE COOS DESKSupporting a Collaborative and Inclusive Approach to Critical IssuesTRACY ANTONEChief Operating Officer, Chiefs of Ontario S hekoliOn behalf of the Chiefs of Ontario secretariat, I am proud to welcome you to this edition of the official Chiefs of Ontario maga-zine, Advocate.Across Ontario, First Nation communities have been working diligently to generate jobs and training opportunities for community members. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is vitally important that First Nation communities be provided the resources required to build their economic development capacity and generate consistent revenue to meet community needs. In this edition of Advocate, you will find compelling stories of First Nations-led participation in the clean energy and tourism sectors to support self-determination and create healthy, sustainable communities. In addition, you will find pieces focused on uplifting the voices and perspectives of First Nation youth. One of our featured stories comments on the recent federal election and outlines how the new Liberal government can support a collaborative, First Nations-led approach to address critical issues affecting First Nations in Ontario, including sovereignty and jurisdiction, systemic racism and residen-tial school investigations. As our communities continue to grapple with the tragic findings of chil-drens remains near former residential schools across the country, the Chiefs of Ontario is committed to supporting affected Survivors, communities and families. It will require sustained effort and political will from all levels of government to ensure that that an inclusive First Nations-led response is developed and implemented. Yaw^ko to all those who donated their time to ensure this edition was a success. I encourage all our readers to provide insight and feedback so we can continue to evolve as an organization and tailor each publication to be access-ible and inclusive for our diverse audience.
