b'CSAM NEWSFROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CSAMNew resources for the pandemic and beyondAs the COVID-19 pandemic progresses, a new set of workplace protocols have been brought to the front of everyonesmindsincluding heightened awareness and implementation of personal hygiene, handwashing, physical distancing andmask-wearing. While a large emphasis has been focused on keeping our employees and coworkers safe from the virus, it is important that we dont lose sight of other hazards that may also be present, especially heading into winter. We continue to update our COVID-19 Resources webpage, including a new guidance document with step-by-step procedures on what to do if an employee tests positive for COVID-19. As the pandemic develops, its possible you may encounter this scenario, and YOUR Construction Safety Association of Manitoba wants to ensure you are prepared for this. But in the midst of this, we are also continuing to update many other resource materials that apply to different aspects ofyour workplace. Under the Resources tab on constructionsafety.ca, youll find a large number of downloadable resources, including a brand new set of toolbox talks, ready for you to use on YOUR jobsite. Youll also find our CSAM App now has an additional 13 new sections of the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and Regulation broken down into plain language (now 33 sections in total). The CSAM App also includes a list of further resources relevant to each specific section. And, of course, with it being the season of ice and snow, we remind you to be safe and careful when driving on the road or working outside in the cold. We often forget about the little thingsfor example, carrying a toque and pair of warm gloves as part of your vehicles emergency kit. Although a toque works well for personal use, it is important to remind workers that a jobsite is different. Unless extremely tight-fitting, it is not recommended to wear anything underneath your hard hat on a jobsite as it may compromise the fit and effectiveness of the internal suspension system of the hard hat. Along with the manufacturer specifications, Section 6.11(2) of Manitobas WSH Regulation states a liner for the hardhat is required to protect the worker from cold conditions. I encourage you to take some time to browse our revised website, www.constructionsafety.ca, for a multitude of information, resources, tools and training available to you. Our website and our online training options are literally available 24/7.CSAM is honoured to be your trusted source and THE go-to source for safety and health.
