b'WCA NEWSFast Five WITH WCAS KIM HALIPCHUKWCAs project coordinator celebrates three decades with WCAThe name Kim Halipchuk is almost as synonymous with the Winnipeg Construction Association as the planroom and standard documents. This fall, the industry veteran celebrates 30 years with the association. From changes in technology, to new locations, to meeting her husband of 27 years through the association, Halipchuk sits down with Build Manitoba to share fond memories and career highlights. How her role (and WCA!) has changed over 30 years:Kim Halipchuk: When I first came to WCA, my role consisted of three basic areasplanroom, bid depository and general office functions. Our project news was printed and mailed out to all members every Friday. Project news postings were done on a typewriter, printed out each day and posted on the wall in the Burnell planroom area. Hard copy plans and specs were booked out on a daily basis. In 2003, WCA became a fully digital planroom. Our typewriter was retired, and computers were the future. WCA provides its members with all types of construction opportunities in Manitoba, including private, public, construction management, design build, sub-trade requests, RFP, RFQ, P3 and any and all ICI and civil work. I mainly work to populate BuildWorks Canada with these types of projects, which provide our members with all the construction information, construction values and post-bid results and awards. I also work on obtaining private projects as well. My job is never the same each day, as there is always something new to learn.WCAs Construction Information Services team.14 BUILD MANITOBAwinnipegconstruction.ca'
