Lafarge Canada United Rentals MANITOBA 2019 BY THE NUMBERS 4 INFORMATIONAL BOOTHS 22 SPONSORS 2,300 MOUTHS FED 1,849 STUDENTS ATTENDED 21 INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS 10 YEARS RUNNING The Expo, presented by the Winnipeg Construction Association along with Manitoba Building Trades and the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba, has been growing in popularity each year. This year’s event, held on Wednesday, May 8, featured 25 different exhibits, including hands-on demonstrations in masonry, electrical, carpentry, roofing, drywall, heavy construction, flooring and more. Aidan and Chris came from Nelson McIntyre Collegiate to take part in the exhibits and learn more. “We both love the woods class at our school, so we wanted to check it out,” says Aidan. While both students are drawn to carpentry, after attending the Expo, they’re also considering welding. “It looks cool,” he adds. Miguel Maguet has been bringing a busload of students from Ecole Edward Schreyer to the event for the last seven years. “It’s just a fantastic opportunity to expose the kids to a number of the trades that are out there and what it looks like to be hands-on in a small-scale way,” Maguet says. “It’s easy to get a bus full of kids every time because the kids are talking about it. Most of them coming in actually get something out of it and enjoy it.” Along with the presenting partners, the event wouldn’t be possible without the participation of all of our sponsors and exhibitors.
