45 Issue 2 Summer Edition 2019 BUILD MANITOBA Lee Olsen, Lead Hand Three years ago, Lee was living a rough life. He grew up in a tough neighbourhood and was coming out of prison after five years. He was determined to change his life and be a good father to his children. In February 2016, he was hired by Purpose Construction. After three years Lee has worked his way up to a crew lead. He now manages jobsites and provides leadership and mentorship to new trainees. “Purpose gave me a second opportunity, and I am now succeeding in my life and with my family,” he says. “Purpose is more of a family than just a place to work.” He now speaks to current inmates on the opportunities for changing their lives, and is a role model for many transitioning out of the justice system. “I firmly believe in this company and the great job it is doing for disadvantaged people.” Meet Purpose’s Workers Dave Levasseur (left), Lee Olson (right) Senay Mosazghi, Carpenter/Lead Hand Senay is a refugee from Eritrea who left his country with his family because of religious persecution. He was hired by Purpose in July of 2013. “Working at Purpose has been a great experience for me,” says Senay. “It is a very progressive company that has encouraged me to be the best I can be.
