monthly basis. Everett Ritson took over the position for 1980-1981 and was followed by Joanne Olyowski from 1981 to 1988. Judy Nagus worked as the Executive Director of the MCAS from 1988 until her retirement in 2012. In 1973, the Mechanical Contractors Association of Saskatchewan was incorporated under its current name. The Executive members were: President: Ed Shoenroth 1st Vice President: John Peters 2nd Vice President: Carl Balzer 3rd Vice President: Mike Zmud Secretary-Treasurer: Andy Nobert National Director: Wendell Dent Sec-Mgr: Tom E. Baylis Directors: George Andres, Dallas Conley, Roy Knourek, Joe Morgan, Bob Noble, Les Thorpe and Jack Yerhoff. The key to the longevity that MCAS has enjoyed these past hundred years lies in the sense of volunteerism that is displayed by the men and women who have served on the Board of Directors of the Association. Board members take on the responsibility to develop policies, procedures and regulations for the operation of MCAS. In addition, they monitor the Association’s financial health, programs and overall performance and provide the staff with the resources to meet the needs of those MCAS serves every day. In the early 1990s MCAS membership numbers were dangerously low, and the Association was at risk of closing its doors permanently. Then-President Garry Kreller took it upon himself, along with Executive Director Judy Nagus, to travel across the province visiting mechanical contractors. They met with owners to stress the importance of belonging to an association that would represent their needs and concerns as mechanical contractors. Those long days of travel proved invaluable and the MCAS survived its near demise.
