New and renovated locations are usually pursued more often because they offer modern facilities and amenities. More importantly, these properties are staying ahead of new trends in meetings and event spaces and are improving services for their clients. CM&E had the pleasure of speaking with four senior executives from different meetings and event sites across Canada about significant renovations and upgrades to existing properties and about sites that are brand new. To see what they had to say, read below. WESTIN TORONTO AIRPORTIn 2019, the Westin Bristol Place Hotel completed an extensive series of renovations to the property in the airport area of Toronto. The new owners of the hotel, Eastons Group of Hotels, wanted to create a new look for the hotel. It was the first renovation of the hotel in nearly 12 years, and when completed, the owners had not only upgraded its appearance and services, they also changed the hotel name to Westin Toronto Airport. The upgrades included refreshing of the guestrooms and suites, on-site restaurants, the meeting and events space as well as modernizing the lobby. In addition, the indoor pool and fitness facility have been updated.The meeting and event space features nearly 20,000 square feet housed on three levels. The largest ballroom is 5,800 square feet and can accommodate 360 people for a sit-down meal and 500 in theatre style. In total, the hotel can offer 13-15 event rooms, including several dividable large and mid-size meeting spaces, as well as executive boardrooms suitable for eight to 15 guests. Audio visual is handled by an on-site provider PSAV. The hotel has adopted a green sustainable approach to amenities with streamlined workstations and a clutter-free environment for meetings and events.
