43 Issue 1 | Spring Edition | 2026 BUILD MANITOBA IMPACT BUILDERS BM: How do you intentionally support and encourage women across Con-Pro’s team? CS: For me, the most important factor is creating a culture where women feel empowered to step into leadership and know their ideas and contributions are both welcomed and meaningful. We have been intentional about supporting and encouraging women across our team. While we always hire the best person for the role, we make a conscious effort to ensure representation when recruiting, especially for senior positions, so that diversity of gender and culture is part of our leadership and team fabric. Creating a workplace where women feel confident taking on responsibility and leadership starts with psychological safety. We actively support all of our team members in their development and help them achieve the roles they aspire to. We work hard to foster an environment where everyone’s contributions are valued, heard and supported equally. BM: You are a strong supporter of Manitoba Women in Construction (MWC). Why is it important to you and Con-Pro to support the industry more broadly, including involvement with organizations like MWC? CS: Supporting MWC is important to me and to Con-Pro because I know firsthand what it’s like to be the only woman in the room in a male-dominated industry. Growing up in construction, I saw how easy it was for women to be overlooked, underrepresented or not given the same opportunities. That’s why it matters to me that women have a voice, fair pay and real decision-making power. We support organizations like MWC because they create a space where women feel supported, included and empowered – the same values I try to reflect at Con-Pro every day. With women’s rights being challenged globally, it feels even more important to stand together and support these organizations and each other. BM: Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future of your team? CS: What excites me most about the future of our team is the incredible talent and opportunity we have. We have such a strong, collaborative team, and I love thinking about what we can achieve together. I’m excited about how we can continue to honour and embrace our traditional values while at the same time exploring new technologies and opportunities. On top of that, the variety of new projects and clients coming our way will keep us challenged and allow us to continue learning and evolving as a team. That mix of collaboration, innovation and growth is what really energizes me about what’s ahead.
