Carvd Construction is known for reliable 
work, but its true legacy is rebuilding 
lives. Since opening in November 2021, 
the company has grown with a mission 
to take on any challenge its clients bring 
and create pathways for people on their 
addiction recovery journey.
It’s a journey that founder Richard 
Reddecopp knows by heart. Born in 
southern Manitoba, Reddecopp learned 
the value of honest work on his parents’ 
farm and the importance of resilience 
after his family lost everything and had 
to start again. After high school, he 
applied both traits towards leading his 
own construction company, which he 
excelled at until the money and lifestyle 
took him in a less prosperous direction: 
“I was young, I had money, and I was 
partying all the time. Then, cocaine was 
introduced. I touched it, and six years of 
my life just disappeared. I couldn’t stop.”
By 2019, Reddecopp’s addiction was in 
full swing – so much so that his business 
partners convinced him to sell his shares 
and seek treatment. Reddecopp agreed, 
but after two failed attempts, he found 
himself a year later in a deeper hole, 
with no plan to get out. “Life was just no 
fun,” he says.
If there was a “rock bottom,” Reddecopp 
had found it. Fortunately, he soon found 
a therapist who helped him step back 
from the edge, “find my higher power,” 
and begin again. In 2020, with little 
money to his name, he moved into Two 
Ten Recovery on Maryland Street with

a dozen other men at the same point in 
their journeys, determined to keep busy 
with volunteering and recovery work and 
plan his next step.
One day, in July 2021, inspiration 
struck. “I was walking down Wellington 
Crescent, and it just felt so clear that I 
was supposed to go into business, but 
I didn’t know what it was supposed to 
look like,” he recalls. “That’s when I said, 
‘God, if this is what you want me to do, 
let me build a house on this street, and 
I’ll know for sure.’”
The sign would follow, but not before 
Reddecopp took his fate into his 
own hands. After bouncing ideas off 
two close friends and “like-minded 
entrepreneurs” – Andreas Gerhard and
