FUN WITH FRIENDS
       One memory that 
comes to mind is a CCA 
Conference at Disney 
World. Ron, Brenda, my 
wife Kristen and I spent 
an evening around 
the Epcot resort area, 
enjoying duelling pianos 
and discovering a 
shared appreciation for 
gin and tonics – or, as 
Ron called them, 
‘GTOs.’ The night ended 
with a false fire 
alarm at the hotel that 
evacuated every delegate 
to the loading dock. That 
evening captures Ron 
perfectly: approachable, 
genuine, good-humoured 
and someone who always 
made space for connection 
– whether in a boardroom,
at an industry event or
even on a loading dock
during a false fire alarm.
       We all know Ron’s love 
for white Audis. I remember 
when he phoned me in a 
tizzy because he stopped 
to get gas on his way to a 
reunion of the guys. Some 
tourist with an RV was 
trying to get into the pump 
next to him and sideswiped 
his new car. When he 
started to exchange 
insurance particulars, he 
realized the other driver 
couldn’t speak English. All 
he could see was his pride 
and joy with a big swipe on 
it and no insurance.
