leader who trusted his 
team, built a remarkable 
organization and never 
lost his appreciation for  
a good time.
     He proudly served 
as the unofficial ‘climate 
control manager’ of the 
office, constantly fine-
tuning the temperature 
and lighting until it 
met his very specific 
standards.

      For the last 20 years, 
Ron has had a ‘Panic’ 
button on his desk. While 
he’s cool, calm and 
collected, I’ve needed to 
press the panic button 
on occasion. When I told 
him I was expecting my 
third child, I walked into 
his office and hit the 
button. For reference, 
it says, ‘Stay calm, stay 
calm, stay calm … on 
second thought, PANIC!’ 
When I heard Ron was 
retiring, I marched into 
his office, and pressed it 
one more time.

     Ron’s daily fuel is 
coffee – black. I never 
saw him drink water in 
the office.
Culture Building
      Ron created 
an amazing work 
environment at WCA. 
Even as someone new, 
he made me feel valued 
and important. 
      Whether you were  
a board member or  
part of the cleaning 
staff, Ron met everyone 
with the same genuine 
respect and kindness.  
It wasn’t just what 
Ron did – it was how 
he made people feel: 
valued, seen and  
cared for.
