After nearly 26 years as president of 
the Winnipeg Construction Association, 
Ron Hambley is retiring with a legacy 
that can be measured not only in 
membership growth, industry advocacy 
and organizational milestones, but in 
relationships, trust and the culture he built 
along the way.
Since stepping into the role in January 
2000, Ron has helped transform the WCA 
into one of the most respected construction 
associations in Canada. Under his 
leadership, the organization nearly tripled 
in size, launched one of the country’s first 
online plan rooms, expanded education 
and training opportunities, strengthened 
industry advocacy and helped shape 
initiatives that continue to impact 
Manitoba’s construction industry today.
But ask staff, board members or industry 
partners what they’ll remember most about 
Ron, and the answers become far more 
personal: his attention to detail, his steady 
leadership, his ability to connect people, his 
support of staff, his love of good wine and 
travel – and, of course, his ongoing battle 
with office thermostats.
This resumé captures some of the 
accomplishments, stories and moments 
that defined a remarkable 26-year career 
at the WCA.
